<div>In The Librarians, acclaimed filmmaker Kim A. Snyder follows a group of courageous librarians in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and beyond as they unite against an unprecedented wave of book bans. Facing harassment, threats, and even the loss of their jobs, these unlikely defenders refuse to surrender the public’s freedom to read.</div><div><br></div><div>Presented during Banned Books Week, this timely documentary reminds us that protecting books means protecting the voices, histories, and lives contained within them.</div><div><br></div><div><i>All proceeds from the screening will go to The South Chatham Public Library</i></div><div><br></div><div>The South Chatham Public Library celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024.</div><div><br></div><div>The library’s story began when Mercelia Evelyn, daughter of legendary sea captain Levi Eldridge Jr., opened a library on her father’s wharf at the end of Deep Hole Road in Harwich—an area now known as Red River Beach.</div><div><br></div><div>As the library grew, it moved along Main Street to Levi’s store at what is now 2607 Main Street. In 1934, it relocated to its current home. Today, the South Chatham Public Library proudly carries on a fascinating legacy as Chatham’s oldest library.</div>DocumentaryPT2H2026-10-06USen
