IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE

Annual Free Community Screening

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11th - 7:00pm

George Bailey has spent his entire life giving of himself to the people of Bedford Falls. He has always longed to travel but never had the opportunity in order to prevent rich skinflint Mr. Potter from taking over the entire town. All that prevents him from doing so is George's modest building and loan company, which was founded by his generous father. But on Christmas Eve, George's Uncle Billy loses the business's $8,000 while intending to deposit it in the bank. Mr. Potter finds the misplaced money and hides it from Uncle Billy. When the bank examiner discovers the shortage later that night, George realizes that he will be held responsible and sent to jail and the company will collapse, finally allowing Mr. Potter to take over the town. Thinking of his wife, Mary, their four children, and others he loves will be better off with him dead, he contemplates suicide. But the prayers of his loved ones result in his guardian angel named Clarence Odbody coming to Earth to help him, with the promise of earning his wings. He shows him what things would have been like if he had never been born.

BENEFIT FOR THE CAPE COD COMMERCIAL FISHERMEN’S ALLIANCE

Fishermen live a life that's deeply connected to nature, shaped by the rhythm of the tides, the temperament of the sea, and the unpredictability of the catch. Their work is both physically demanding and emotionally rewarding, often driven more by passion than profit.

JOHN WILLIAMS
MAESTRO OF THE MOVIES

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18th at 5:00pm

A BENEFIT FOR THE CHATHAM CHILDREN’S FUND

Joe Marchio, conductor of the Chatham Chorale and Pastor and Director of music at First Congregational Church of Chatham, leads an inspiring conversation about legendary film composer and conductor John Williams, whose music has shaped the sound of modern cinema.

From the soaring themes of Star Wars and E.T. to the heart pounding suspense of Jaws to the magical wonder of Harry Potter, Williams’ work has become a part of our collective imagination. Featuring film clips with Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, and George Lucas, you will learn how Williams’ work elevates film storytelling and continues to inspire generations of composers and audiences alike.

Following the presentation, the audience will be treated to a performance by a select group of singers from the Chatham Chorale. The evening will culminate with a special treat from the founder of the Shakespeare Festival, actor and director Alan Rust.

Proceeds from the ticket sales go directly to the Chatham Children’s Fund.
